Janet E. Heininger is Non-Resident Senior Fellow for the Edward M. Kennedy Oral History Project. She received her Ph.D. in American History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She has served in various capacities in the State Department (1982–1985) and as a staff member in the United States Congress (1986–1993). She was also Assistant Professor and Faculty Chair of American University's Washington Semester Program. Her writings include: Peacekeeping in Transition: The United Nations in Cambodia and From Chaos to Calm: Effective Parenting of Challenging Children with ADHD and Other Behavior Problems.
