  • The American Presidency Project
    The American presidency project is a strong collection of documents, audio and video pertaining to the presidency. Included here are Inaugural and State of the Union addresses, as well as other public documents of the presidents. The site also has a wide variety of data and resources useful in the study of presidential elections. It is administered by Professors John Woolley and Gerhard Peters of the Department of Political Science at the University of California - Santa Barbara.
  • The Avalon Project (Yale University)
    The Avalon Project the Yale University School of Law is a unique collection of documents pertaining to the fields of Law, History, Economics, Politics, Diplomacy and Government. The documents displayed in this collection are particularly useful because each contains links inside the text to other documents referenced therein. The collection is organized chronologically by century and also alphabetically.
  • Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents (GPO)
    The Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents is published every Monday and is the official publication of presidential statements, messages, remarks, and other materials released by the White House Press Secretary. The site is maintained by the U.S. Government Printing Office.
  • Presidential Directives and Executive Orders (American Federation of Scientists)
    This site provides a comprehensive collection of published executive directives and orders related to the National Security Council. The National Security Council (NSC) is the principal forum for Presidential consideration of foreign policy issues and national security matters. Pursuant to policy review directives, the NSC gathers facts and views of appropriate Government agencies, conducts analyses, determines alternatives, and presents to the President policy choices for decision. The President's decisions are announced by decision directives. This site is maintained by the American Federation of Scientists.

    This site, administered by the National Archives, offers Executive Orders disposition tables. These tables contain information about Executive orders beginning with those signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. They are arranged according to Presidential administration and year of signature.

    This is the home page for the White House. The site contains a wealth of information on the current administrations speeches, policy initiatives, published documents, and news.
  • Public Papers of Presidents of the U.S.
    This site provides a public database of all presidential papers published dating back to 1992. The sites are accessed by volume (1 volume per year), and may also be searched by keywords. This page is maintained by the Government Printing Office.
  • US Presidential Election Maps: 1860-1996
    This database allows the navigator to select a state and a given election year to see the distribution of votes in that state. The site is provided and administered by the Geospatial and Statistical Data Center at the University of Virginia.
  • Presidential Elections 1896-1996 (New York Times)
    This collection compiled by the Learning Network and administered by the New York Times Online presents a historic view of presidential elections with historic articles, editorials, trivia quizzes, facts about the U.S. presidents and more.
  • Presidential State of the Union Addresses 1945-2000 (C-SPAN)
    This site provides the State of the Union addresses in transcript and video formats (when possible); they are organized by president and date. It is provided for and maintained by C-SPAN.

  • Vincent Voice Library 20th Century Presidents
    The Vincent Voice Library provides audio recordings of a variety of presidential speeches. The collection is administered by the Michigan State University Library system.
  • Presidential Campaign Commercials
    The Living Room Candidate: Presidential Campaign Commercials 1952-2004 is an innovative online exhibition presenting more than 250 television commercials from every election year beginning in 1952, when the first campaign ads aired, and including ads from this year's campaign. The site includes a searchable database and features commentary, historical background, election results, and navigation organized by both year and theme.

    This site is a resource collection for those interested in presidential rhetoric over time. The collection is continually growing as the chief executive produces more messages and speeches. The site is maintained by the Department of Communications at Texas A&M University.
  • America Votes: Presidential Campaign Memorabilia
    This online collection exhibits campaign memorabilia drawn from the Duke University Special Collections Library. It primarily illustrates presidential races through letters, sheet music, leaflets, buttons, and bumper stickers.
