Welcome to the Miller Center Forum
Whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-time "Miller Center junkie," on behalf of Miller Center Director Gerald L. Baliles, our Governing Council and the Miller Center Foundation Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome you to the Miller Center Forums.
To increase everyone's enjoyment and ability to participate in the Forum dialogues, we ask that you observe the following.
- To provide the best seating for all of our guests, please fill in the center portion of the room, front to back, before filling the side benches. Please fill in the side benches from the front to the back of the room as well. When you are seated, please turn off all cell phones, Blackberries, Treos, pagers, and similar devices (not put on "silent" or "vibrate" mode).
- Second, to ensure that the Forum program is not interrupted, we will close the Forum Room doors five minutes prior to the program. Those arriving after that time will be seated in one of the overflow areas outside the Forum Room. Forum speakers give 30- to 35-minute presentations, leaving about 25 minutes for dialogue with the audience. If you want to ask a question, please queue up on the right side at the rear of the room when that portion of the program begins.
- Miller Center Forums air on a growing number of PBS affiliates, and we must strictly adhere to a 57-minute time limit. For that reason, and to give the speaker as much time as possible to answer questions, please keep your questions as brief as possible. We and our speakers would be delighted to hear your comments on specifics of the presentation after the Forum has concluded.
We welcome all questions, but our time constraints may occasionally force the moderator to select from among those who are waiting.
We welcome your comments and suggestions for Forum speakers and programs. Thank you for joining us, and for your cooperation to make the Miller Center Forums enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
