Evan Thomas, assistant managing editor of Newsweek since 1991, is the magazine's lead writer on major news stories. He has written more than one hundred cover stories. He is also a regular panelist on the syndicated public affairs talk show "Inside Washington" and has appeared on numerous shows such as "TODAY," "Meet the Press," and "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer." He won the National Magazine Award in 1998 for Newsweek's coverage of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. He is a graduate of Harvard and the University of Virginia Law School.
