Mark Bowden is the author of Guests of the Ayatollah: The First Battle in America's War with Militant Islam. His 1999 book, Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, spent more than a year on the New York Times bestseller list and was made into the movie Black Hawk Down in 2001. A national correspondent for Atlantic Monthly, Bowden is also the author of Killing Pablo: The Hunt for the World's Greatest Outlaw (2001). His long article "Jihadists in Paradise" appears in the March 2007 issue of The Atlantic, and can be downloaded at The screen rights to the article were acquired, and Bowden is set to write the screenplay. A regular contributor to several major American magazines, Bowden was a reporter and columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer for 20 years. A book signing will follow his Forum.
