Dwight David Eisenhower: 1953-1961

President Dwight Eisenhower spent much of his presidency on foreign affairs, dealing with the Korean War and the Cold War. The National Commission on Presidential Transitions and Foreign Policy, convened in 1986, made suggestions for enabling greater continuity in foreign policy from one administration to another. Former Secretaries of State William P. Rogers and Cyrus R. Vance co-chaired the Commission.
