William Howard Taft, from left, stands with President Warren G. Harding and Robert Todd Lincoln, son of President Abraham Lincoln. Following his presidential term, William Howard Taft taught at Yale University Law School until President Harding appointed  him Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Taft served as Chief Justice until his death in 1930.
