Cleveland on Harper’s Weekly

During the campaign of 1884, Grover Cleveland ran as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. He emphasized reformism, hard work, merit, and efficiency. However, the Republicans attacked him for possibly fathering an illegitimate child. He admitted that he might be the father and responded to the attacks by urging his supporters to “Tell the Truth.”
