On February 16, 1999, President Bill Clinton took a phone call regarding the international conflict in Kosovo. That year, the Clinton administration moved with NATO to carry out a bombing campaign against the Serbian government and its “ethnic cleansing” of Albanians in the Kosovo region.  The bombing effort was effective, and U.S. troops then occupied the region as peacekeepers.  The successful execution of this campaign enhanced Clinton’s foreign policy resume.
