General Benjamin Harrison

Benjamin Harrison was raised in a prominent family in Ohio. He was the grandson of the nation's ninth President, William Henry Harrison. Benjamin Harrison attended law school and became involved in Republican Party politics. In 1862, after the outbreak of the American Civil War, he joined the Seventieth Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and eventually rose to the rank of brigadier general.
