Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover stands with his German Shepherd, King Tut. Hoover became the thirty-first President of the United States in 1929. In October, the stock market crashed, signifying the beginning of the Great Depression, the most severe economic crisis the United States had ever known. Hoover’s efforts to combat the Great Depression were not successful, and he was defeated for reelection by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932.
