Honoring Victims of the Beirut Embassy Bombing

On April 23, 1983, Ronald and Nancy Reagan honored the seventeen Americans who died five days earlier when terrorists from the group Hezbollah detonated a truck bomb in front of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. The attack shook the nation and marked a terrible turning point in how Hezbollah engaged the U.S. presence in Lebanon.
