Lieutenant Commander Gerald Ford

Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, Gerald Ford enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He served four years on active duty beginning in April 1942 and spent some of his time aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific, the Monterey. He was awarded ten battle stars for his military leadership and skill. Following the war, Ford returned to his law practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
