June 06, 1989
Source: National Archives

President George H. W. Bush, left, posed for an official portrait with Vice President James Danforth “Dan” Quayle outside the White House on June 6, 1989. Quayle, the junior Senator from Indiana, was selected for his youth and conservative values, but soon became a controversial choice because many Americans considered him too inexperienced.
