On August 3, 1956, President Dwight Eisenhower, right, and his Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, left, addressed the nation from the Oval Office. Dulles served as Secretary of State for Eisenhower from 1953 through 1959 and advised the President on many foreign policy issues, largely dealing with the spread of Communism.
