August 12, 1974
Source: Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library

Just three days after taking the oath of office, President Gerald Ford, left, met with Chief of Staff Alexander Haig in the Oval Office.  Haig was chief of staff from 1973 to 1974 and is credited with a great deal of crisis management during the height of the Watergate scandal.  He would go on to serve as President Ronald Reagan's secretary of state.
