Source: National Archives

President Gerald Ford, right, met with Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, center, and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, left, in the Oval Office on April 28, 1975, to discuss the American evacuation of Saigon, which had recently been taken by Communist forces.  The evacuation effectively ended the controversial period of American military involvement in Vietnam and the surrounding region.
