President Harding with His Cabinet

March 05, 1921
Source: The Library of Congress

President Warren Harding, front row third from right, made some effective cabinet appointments, including Secretary of State Charles Evans Hughes, Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon, and Secretary of Commerce (and future President) Herbert Hoover. However, he also made some bad cabinet choices, including Attorney General Harry Daugherty, who was indicted for defrauding the government, and Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall who was eventually sent to prison.
