President Johnson and Senator Kennedy
President Lyndon Johnson, right, and Senator Robert Kennedy talk on June 22, 1966. Both men were in the administration of President John Kennedy, Robert's brother. Johnson served as vice president, and Robert was attorney general. After President Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963 and Johnson became President, Robert Kennedy continued as attorney general until resigning in September 1964. He then successfully ran for the U.S. Senate from New York.
