Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. Before the presidency, Johnson served as a senator from Texas and vice president to President John Kennedy. Known for his political acumen in the Senate, President Johnson is most remembered for his escalation of the conflict in Vietnam and his ambitious social agenda known as The Great Society.
