President Nixon Visiting the CIA Building

In March 1969, President Richard Nixon visited the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters near Washington, D.C. In his remarks, the President stated that he felt CIA work “was one of the great instruments of our government for the preservation of peace, for the avoidance of war, and for the development of a society in which this kind of activity would not be as necessary, if necessary at all.”
