Richard Milhous Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974.  Prior to the presidency, Nixon served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, and as vice president.  In August 1974, Nixon became the first and only President to resign the office because of his role in the Watergate scandal.
