Source: Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

On April 3, 1981, President Reagan was up and walking with Nancy Reagan in George Washington University Hospital. Only four days earlier, Reagan was struck in the chest by a bullet as he walked out of a hotel in Washington, D.C. The President won the support of the American people with the resolve and strength of character he showed in the aftermath of the assassination attempt.
