Roosevelt and Churchill at Casablanca

On January 22, 1943, President Franklin Roosevelt met with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill at Casablanca, Morocco. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Allied plan of action in the war. They decided to attack the “soft underbelly” of Nazi Europe: Italy, and by the summer of 1943, an Anglo-American invasion of Italy had begun.
