Source: National Archives

In 1973, President Richard Nixon, second from left, met with, from left to right, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, newly appointed Vice President Gerald R. Ford, and Chief of Staff Alexander Haig. Former Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned earlier in the year due to allegations of bribe and fraud. In 1974, President Nixon also resigned; Ford pardoned him shortly after assuming the presidency.
