Source: National Archives

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born in 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. As a child, Roosevelt attended the exclusive Groton School. In 1900, he went to Harvard College, where he joined the Democratic Party despite his family’s history with the Republican Party. Roosevelt later attended law school at Columbia University, and although he never graduated, he passed the bar.
