Professor Berkowitz specializes in American social welfare history. He has worked as a senior staff member on the President's Commission for a National Agenda for the Eighties, as a policy analyst at the Department of Health Education and Welfare, and as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Faculty Fellow in Health Care Finance at John Hopkins.
