Description: Anthony H. Cordesman, holder of the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, is an expert on military affairs in the Middle East. He has argued that although the Bush Administration made a "massive miscalculation" about the insurgency in Iraq, there is an outside chance of developing a stable government if the president sticks with his stated goals. Cordesman has served as director of intelligence assessment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
