In 1993, White and then-Detroit Bureau Chief Paul Ingrassia shared a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of management turmoil at General Motors. They also co-authored Comeback: The Fall and Rise of the American Automobile Industry (Simon & Schuster, 1994) about the American auto industry in the 1980s and 1990s. White also contributes new car reviews to SmartMoney magazine.
