Description
ADMIRAL JOSEPH W. PRUEHER is the Miller Center’s James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professor and a consulting professor at Stanford University’s Institute of International Studies. He served as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China for Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush, after completing a 35-year career in the U.S. Navy. Prueher’s last post was Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command, the world’s largest military command. He has received multiple military awards, and has been honored by the governments of Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Australia.
