A Texas politician who became first acquainted with Lyndon B. Johnson in connection with committee hearings chaired by Congressman Dick Kleberg when Johnson was his secretary in the early 1930s. He later became aware of him as the Texas state administrator for the National Youth Administration. He also met him many times through a mutual friend Sam Rayburn who had served in the Texas Legislature with his father Sam Ealy Johnson. He was involved in the democratic campaigns on 1960, 1964, and 1968.
