Description
Served as Secretary of the Army (1950-1953) and Director of the Bureau of the Budget (1949-1950), during which time he had some working connections with Lyndon B. Johnson. Prior to that, worked at the Department of Justice and was Executive Assistant to the Postmaster General Robert Hannegan, who was also head of the Democratic National Committee and was considerably close to Johnson as a senator. During that period, Pace was socially close to Johnson.
