Description
Brother of Walt Rostow (a prominent economist and advisor to Johnson), Eugene Rostow briefly worked as an assistant to Assistant Secretary of State Dean Acheson during World War II. In 1961, Rostow served on the Peace Corp Advisory Council and as an advisor to the State Department. Rostow supported American involvement in Vietnam and was soon appointed by Johnson as Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs. Within several months, however, Rostow was transferred to the IMF and, later, the World Bank, where he served as governor.
