Description
Chairman of the Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, Spock, who had previously supported Kennedy, campaigned for Johnson in 1964. In 1965, he became a member of the National Advisory Council to the Office of Economic Opportunity. However, Spock soon became disenchanted with the Administration after Johnson decided to escalate American commitment in Vietnam. Spock became a prominent anti-war figure who fought against the Vietnam War. Spock was arrested for conspiracy in 1968, but the charges were later dismissed.
