Mr. and Mrs. Walter Washington discuss their relation to Lyndon B. Johnson that began in the early 1960s, during Washington?s association the National Capital Housing Authority, of which he eventually became director (1941-1966). Walter Washington also served as Chair of the New York Housing Authority (1966-1967). Washington was Mayor-Commissioner (1967-1974) and Mayor of the City of Washington, DC (1974-1978). The couple discusses the Johnson family and a number of issues related to the Washingtons? professional experience, such as their involvement in the Johnsons? beautification project for Washington, D.C.
