Description

Republican senator from North Dakota (1945-1981). During his years in office Milton Young supported many civil rights measures, but opposed labor legislation and most foreign and public works projects. During the 1960s, he opposed medicare and antipoverty programs while supporting legislation to aid farmers. From 1954 and throughout the 1960s, he continuously opposed American involvement in Vietnam.
