In his address, President Nixon expresses his frustration with the North Vietnamese and their unwillingness to negotiate an end to the war. He stresses that the United States has been willing to reach reasonable terms but must protect the lives of Americans at risk. President Nixon demands genuine peace, not a peace that is merely a prelude to another war.
