Event Details
Abraham Lincoln was the least-experienced executive to serve as President: he was a trial lawyer in a two-man firm, and had only six weeks of military service, in a militia when he was 23. Immediately following his inauguration on March 4, 1861, he was plunged into the crisis at Ft. Sumter. William Lee Miller, Miller Center Scholar of Ethics and Institutions, explores the qualities Lincoln developed to enable his successful presidential leadership. Author of seven books, a chapter from Miller?s book-in-progress, President Lincoln: An Ethical Biography, is available at the Miller Center web site, millercenter.org.
