Andrew Morris is assistant professor of history at Union College in Schenectady, New York. He received his bachelor?s degree in history from Brown University in 1991, and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2003. Morris?s research interests focus on the history of philanthropy, charity and the welfare state. He is currently completing a book titled, The Limits of Voluntarism: Private Social Service and the Expansion of the Welfare State. This forum is co-hosted by the Thomas Jefferson Area United Way.
