David Lee is Taiwan?s chief representative in the United States. After earning an M.A. and Ph.D. (1987) in foreign affairs at the University of Virginia, Dr. Lee has had a meteroic rise in high level appointments in the government of Taiwan. He was Deputy Director General and Director of the Department of North American Affairs and Deputy Director General and Director of the Government Information Office serving in the capacity of spokesman for the Republic of China (Taiwan). From 1998-2001, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 2001, he was representative to Belgium, Luxemborg and the European Union. He was appointed to his current post in 2004.
