 “Secrets and Traditions of UVA” was co-sponsored by the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society and the Miller Center of Public Affairs and took place at the Miller Center of Public Affairs on September 2, 2010.

 

This portion includes presentations by Wayne Cozart, Vice-President for Alumni Engagement, on “The Origins and Workings of Secret Societies”; UVA Professor Gary Gallagher on “The University and the Civil War”; and Alexander Gilliam, University Historian, on “World at War: FDR and the University”. The UVA Special Collections staff from the Harrison Special Collections Library also made a presentation regarding the library’s offerings to UVA students.
