“Secrets and Traditions of UVA” was co-sponsored by the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society and the Miller Center of Public Affairs and took place at the Miller Center of Public Affairs on September 2, 2010.

 

This portion featured presentations by Coy Barefoot, Director of communications and Alumni Relations, on “The History of the Corner” and Marc Selverstone, Assistant Director for Presidential Studies, on “Listening in on Presidents: A Presentation on the Miller Center’s Secret Presidential Recordings”. The evening’s capstone event was a debate moderated by Craig Littlepage, UVA Athletic Director, on whether “Athletes at UVA Lead ‘The Good Life’.” Debaters included Colin Hood and Emma King on the “Nerds” side of the debate vs. Shane Cooke and Chindi Uche for the “Jocks”.
