Adam Clymer, served from 1999 to July 2004 as chief Washington correspondent of The New York Times, which he joined in 1977. For his coverage of Congress he received the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for distinguished reporting. He has also served as senior editor, and as national political correspondent. His highly-praised Edward M. Kennedy: A Biography was published in 1999 by William Morrow & Co. In July 2004 he became visiting scholar at the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania where he serves in the Washington office as political director of the National Annenberg Election Survey, a huge election poll that began in October and continued through Election Day 2004. Clymer is the public spokesman for the poll, and a chief analyst of its data. He now lives in an apartment once occupied by Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower.When
