From 1994 through 1997, Donald Baer served as one of President Clinton’s most senior advisors in a variety of roles. Baer began his career in the White House as director of speechwriting and research and chief speechwriter before serving as assistant to the President and White House director of strategic planning and communications. In these roles, Baer worked across agencies to build compelling, coherent messages and implement communications strategies covering all domestic and foreign policy while also crafting major presidential addresses, including work on every State of the Union address from 1995 to 2000. Baer later worked at Discovery Communications from 1998 to 2007 as senior executive vice president for Strategy and Development. In 2008, Baer joined the strategic communications firm Burson Marsteller as worldwide vice chairman, becoming its worldwide chief executive officer and chairman in 2012 and global chairman of its predecessor firm Burson Cohn & Wolfe in 2018. In his current role, Baer counsels a global client base ranging across all major business and non-profit sectors.
