Details discussed include the date of departure, an announcement of the mission, draft instructions for the mission, and the approach Secretary McNamara should take with President of South Vietnam Ngo Dinh Diem. Also mentioned is the difference between the views of United States Ambassador to South Vietnam Henry Cabot Lodge and General Paul D. Harkins.
