Miller Center postpones upcoming public events
Due to the coronavirus threat, we must cancel or postpone planned events
In the face of the coronavirus threat, there’s no higher priority for the Miller Center than the health and safety of our community, including invited speakers, event attendees, and staff members.
The Miller Center is postponing previously-scheduled public events through at least May 15. The status of events scheduled for later in May and thereafter will be assessed according to guidance from UVA officials and state and federal health authorities, and announcements will be forthcoming.
Our decision to refrain from holding public events follows guidance issued by the University of Virginia, as well as best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and other state and federal agencies.
These upcoming Miller Center events are postponed, and we are working to reschedule them:
- March 19-20: Stevenson Conference, “The Presidency and Endless War”
- March 25: “Democracy4Women: 100 Years of the 19th Amendment”
- April 1: “Diplomacy on trial: Ambassador William Taylor”
- April 14: "Democracy4Women: Hillary Rodham Clinton and Carly Fiorina"
We remain committed to our nonpartisan mission of bringing the best research of our faculty and affiliates to policy makers and the public. With that in mind, we are planning to produce livestream-only events, without public audiences, through our website, millercenter.org, and other streaming services. These future events will be announced when details are available.
On behalf of the scholars, staff, and Governing Council of the Miller Center, I want to extend my personal thanks to our supporters for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
William Antholis
