Walter P. Reuther was president of United Automobile Workers (UAW) from 1946 to 1970; vice president of Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) from 1946 to 1952; president of CIO from 1952 to 1955; vice president of American Federation of Labor–Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) from 1955 to 1969; and president of Alliance for Labor Action from 1969 to 1972.
