Event Details
The first year of a president’s term sheds important light on the character, capabilities, and policy priorities of the nation’s new leader. And, as history has demonstrated, the decisions taken during those intensive 12 months usually shape the entire arc of an administration.
The Committee for Economic Development’s Policy Watch roundtable discussion—including Miller Center Director Bill Antholis—will reflect on first-year legislative successes and policy missteps, and how they will shape the economic, social, and political trends in 2022. Among the key issues that will be addressed:
- The economic recovery—what went right, what went wrong and what lies ahead in 2022;
- The pandemic—leadership successes and failures and lessons learned for the coming year;
- The global challenges of year one and the impact on year two;
- The impact of the midterm elections on policy and legislative agendas in 2022;
- The lessons of presidential leadership in year one and how they have impacted year two.
This event is hosted by the Committee for Economic Development of the Conference Board
