Lt. Gen. Victor H. "Brute" Krulak was a U.S. Marine Corps officer during World War II and the Korean War; special assistant for counter insurgency activities for the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1962 to 1964; and commanding general, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific, from March 1964 until his retirement in June 1968.
