Sound recording of a meeting held In the evening of September 9, 1963, between President John F. Kennedy and Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson (Washington). They informally discuss the recently signed treaty banning atmospheric nuclear weapons tests (later known as the Partial Test Ban Treaty or Limited Test Ban Treaty) and how much support, if any, Senator Jackson will show for the treaty. They also discuss other issues, such as White House staffers, Laos, and Vietnam. Two segments of the recording totaling 1 minute and 27 seconds have been removed in accordance with Section 3.4 (b) (1), (3) of Executive Order 13526.
